Born in central Texas in 1979 and raised in Osaka Japan, Santa Monica-based composer Dan Marocco graduated from New York University in 2002 with a degree in music business.  The son of a music teacher, Dan has studied and performed music his entire life, having started with piano, moving on to the trumpet, and picking up the guitar along the way.  In 2001, Dan began working for Duotone Audio Group, a New York based music production company, and in 2003 was a First 'boards awards finalist for his music in advertising.

Dan's first feature film score, Deadline was co-written with Peter Nashel (Bee Season, The Night Listener, The Deep End) and debuted at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival to critical acclaim and was broadcast on The Sundance Channel and NBC.  

In 2005, Dan moved to Santa Monica to open the west coast office of Duotone and pursue numerous film and television projects.  While in California, Dan has contributed to the scores for numerous TV shows and has assisted several award winning film composers, such as Alexandre Desplat (The King's Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Queen, Syriana) and Javier Navarrete (Pan's Labyrinth, Mirrors,
Inkheart).

BROTHERHOOD, Dan's first solo feature film, won the Audience Award at SXSW and the Dallas International Film Festival as well as the Grand Jury Prize at the New Hampshire Film Festival, and will be released in theaters beginning February of 2011.
